Prepping Units for the First Workout
Here's a summary of all the steps needed before a unit is ready for the first practice.
Step One: Charge Your Unit(s)
Your unit will arrive with some charge, but you should plug it in until it is fully charged (~3-4 hours) before heading to the pool. How will you know it's fully charged? The light will stop blinking. 😉

Step Two: Activate Your Unit(s)
💡Membership owners: Not sure where to start? Tap the waving hand icon in the bottom right of the app to open your in-app Set Up Guide. It walks you through everything step by step. Otherwise keep reading below.
To activate units, head to the Account Management page in the TritonWear app. You can do this:
-
From a computer browser
-
Automatically on a mobile phone or tablet
⚠️Only the original membership purchaser can activate units using the email address associated with the membership.
If someone gave you a Triton unit, check with them, they’ll need to activate it and assign it to you before you can use it.
Before assigning units to swimmers, make sure you’ve created your team and invited your athletes.
💡 Good to know: You don’t need to wait for swimmers to accept their invites before activating or assigning units. You can move ahead and get everything set up on your own timeline.

Step Three: Assigning Your Unit(s)
Once activated, you can assign the unit to the athlete who’ll be using it daily — whether that’s you or someone else.
Why assign it?
- It links the unit to a single swimmer.
- It helps the unit learn that swimmer’s stroke and consistently improve data collection over time as a result.
- Consistent data for each swimmer enables TritonWear to make better recommendations for training in general.
💡Only the unit owner can assign a unit. If you didn’t activate it, it won’t show up as ready to assign under your account.

Step Four: Update Firmware
Your units ship without firmware so you can always install the latest version.
Firmware updates are done through the TritonWear app on a phone or iPad with Bluetooth.
The best part?
Anyone coach, swimmer, or team admin with the unit nearby can update it.
No need to be the owner, and no need to wait. You can run firmware updates before or after activation or unit assignment in any order that works for you.
