Prepping Units for the First Workout

A summary of all the steps needed before a unit is ready for the first practice, and links to additional information for each step

Your Triton 2 unit has a really important job to do when it comes to helping you swim faster, so there are a few key steps to take when you first receive it to make sure it will shine for you. 

Charging Unit 

Your unit will arrive with some charge, but you should plug it in until it is fully charged before heading to the pool. You'll know it's fully charged when the light stops blinking. The lights on the unit are designed to help you understand its states.

Activating Units

The first activity is to add your new unit to your account. This is the process of telling your TritonWear account what unit you received by entering the unit number on your memberships page. You can associate an unlimited number of units to any open active Membership on your account. 

This can only be done from a browser on a computer or laptop. 

NOTE: Only the original membership purchaser can activate units from the email address used to purchase the membership. If you did not purchase a membership with your email address, you will not have any memberships reflected on your account, so will not be able to add a unit. If you have received a unit, please check with the person who gave it to you that it has first been activated and assigned to you. 

Assigning Units

The next step in prepping your unit for the first workout is to assign it to the athlete who will use it every day, be that yourself or someone else. This is key for a couple of reasons: 

  • The unit will be specifically assigned to one individual, so it can automatically begin tracking training at each practice, without having to be assigned
  • The unit will learn the unique swimming style of the athlete who wears it every day and consistently improve data collection over time as a result 
  • Having consistent data coming in for a single athlete will enable our algorithm to make better recommendations for Readiness, Focus, Intensity, and training in general. 

WARNING: Only the unit owner can assign a unit to a user, be it yourself or someone else. If you did not activate a unit, you will not have any unassigned units reflected on your account, so will not be able to assign it. If you have received a unit, please check with the person who gave it to you that it has first been activated and assigned to you. 

This can only be done from a browser on a computer or laptop.

Updating Firmware 

Your unit arrives without any firmware installed, to ensure you start with the latest version. Once you've activated and assigned your unit, the final step is to update the firmware so it is ready to go when you are. 

Anyone who owns a unit, or as one assigned to them can update the firmware. 

Note: This can only be done from the TritonWear app on a tablet or mobile device, and works better on Apple than Android at the moment. If you have access to an apple device, we highly recommend using it to update your unit firmware whenever this is required (infrequent after initial update).
