How Intensity Score is calculated

Intensity Scores combine how much time was spent in each training zone, how much distance was covered, and the amount of rest between each rep.

To measure training Intensity, our algorithm considers three main factors.
  • Energy: What energy systems are being engaged throughout the workout?
  • Distance: The total distance swam, broken down by stroke type.
  • Work vs Rest Time: The time spent swimming versus time spent resting between sets.
IntensityThese three elements are averaged across the workout and then weighted so Energy contributes 50%, and Distance and Work vs Rest contribute 25% each.
The average Intensity score will likely be around 75. However, scores will vary quite a bit based on the type of workout swam (moderate vs vigorous for example). It is more important to pay attention to how close the planned vs. actual intensity is.
