How to Unassign or Disable Triton Units & HRMs
Got a swimmer leaving? Swapping out a faulty unit? Or just doing a little pre-season cleanup? You can unassign a swimmer or disable a device right from the Account Management page.
Below, we’ll walk you through exactly how to do it (with some warnings so you don’t accidentally lose anything important).
Skip to what you need:
Unassigning a Swimmer from a Device
Remove a swimmer from a Triton unit or HRM, but keep the device active for someone else.
Disabling a Device from Your Membership
Remove a unit or HRM entirely from your account to free up a membership slot.
Swimmers can remove themselves from a team’s membership if they’re no longer part of it.
🤓 Only the membership owner can unassign or disable a device.
Unassigning a Swimmer from a Device
Use this when a swimmer is done using a device, but you want to keep the Triton unti or Heart Rate monitor (HRM) active for someone else.
- Open the TritonWear App or log in on a computer.
- Tap the Account Management icon
from the blue navigation bar.
For Triton Units
- Scroll to the units list.
- Find the Triton Unit ID you want to unassign.
- Hit the unassign button
located on the right of the swimmer's name.
Case 1: If no HRM is assigned to the swimmer- A pop-up will appear confirming:
“This unit will be unassigned from [Swimmer Name]”
Hit Confirm to complete the action.
- A pop-up will appear confirming:
-
The device will stay active and is now ready to be assigned to someone else.
- Case 2: If an HRM is assigned to the same swimmer
-
A pop-up will appear stating:
“This unit will be unassigned from [Swimmer Name].
What would you like to do with their Heart Rate Monitor?”-
Keep it assigned
-
Unassign it
Select what you’d like to happen with the HRM, then hit Confirm to complete the action.
-
⚠️ Don’t Play Musical Chairs with Units
Triton units are smart; they learn a swimmer’s patterns over time. If you bounce them around between swimmers, they won’t be able to recognize consistent patterns. That means the data gets less accurate for everyone. Stick to one swimmer per unit whenever possible.
For Heart Rate Monitors (HRMs)
- Hit the unassign button
on the right of the HRM
- A pop-up will appear confirming:
“This [Swimmer Name] will be unassigned from this Heart Rate Monitor.”
Hit Confirm to complete the action.
- A pop-up will appear confirming:
Disabling a Device from Your Membership
Use this when a device is faulty, retired, or no longer needed, and you want to open up a spot to activate a new one.
Disabling a Triton Unit
- Open the TritonWear App or log in on a computer.
- Tap the memberships icon
from the navigation bar.
-
From Account Management, scroll to your units list
-
Tap the trash can icon to the left of the unit ID
There are two scenarios here:
If the Unit is Unassigned:-
You’ll get a simple confirmation pop-up:
If the Unit is Assigned, and the Swimmer also has a HRM:“Are you sure you want to disable this unit?”
Hit Confirm — the unit is now removed from your account
-
You’ll get a pop-up that says:
Disable Unit LH06
This unit will no longer be on your account, so it will be unassigned from [Swimmer Name].
What about their heart rate monitor?
• Keep it assigned – They’re getting a different Triton unit
• Unassign it – I’ll give it to someone else
[Go Back] [Confirm]
Pick the option that fits your setup, then hit Confirm to disable the unit and apply the changes.
Disabling a Heart Rate Monitor
-
Tap the “HRM x added/ x in use” link on the top right above the list of units
-
In the pop-up that opens, find the HRM you want to disable.
-
Tap the trash can icon on the left of the card.
A confirmation pop-up will appear:
“This heart rate monitor will be removed from your account.”
Tap Confirm to finish disabling.![]()
Leaving a Shared Membership (Swimmers Only)
If you're a swimmer and want to disconnect from a team that owns the unit:
- Open the TritonWear App or log in on a computer.
- Tap the Triton Unit icon
in the blue navigation bar.
-
At the top of your page you'll find the Shared Memberships section
-
Tap Leave on the far right
⚠️ This removes your access to all units and HRMs from that membership.
You’ll need the coach to reassign you if you ever want to join again.
